When your focus gets distracted your future gets diverted

Tonight we begun our online global reset group. So far Canada & Australia were in the house! (online actually) but I have had so much encouraging interest from friends around the world that I will create two more timeframes that will suit other parts of our two hemispheres.

I was so nervous because this would be my first time 'coaching' rather than facilitating a group discussion. Not many people know me in this more professional function, although for years it is how I made a living to support myself through university and volunteering in my 20's.

The way you facilitate is different. You are entirely there to draw out of people what is already within them. They are carriers of solution and strategy, they just need to be given permission to get SPECIFIC! They could just be spending their energy solving the wrong problem.

“That’s been one of my mantras – focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” Steve Jobs

More than often the spiritual aspects of our life and our goals need a very non-spiritual strategy. So coaching can sometimes be perceived as very secular. Yet I find it often even more sacred than some people's version of shepherding. It acknowledges people as smart, graced, gifted, loved, believed in, competent, resourceful, practical and ever so powerful.

Today we discussed 'focus' and what word is designing our future. That is what words do, they create. They shape. They direct. They lead. They invite.

When we focus on our future it is too easy to be general and too spiritual. So we needed to get more specific.

What would your life look like, smell like, feel like...?

What would you be spending your time doing?

Who would you be around?

“Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.” Paulo Coelho

I said that once you decide which word to focus on for the rest of the year, which word will frame your year, the let's get on with living that word out by asking yourself the 'miracle question'

"If a miracle occured tomorrow morning and you woke up living this preferred future life (the one you had begun to visualise) then what would be the first sign that the miracle had actually happened? What would be different?"

So then your action step is to get practical. Use practical words, doing words, not feeling words (or not even spiritual words unless they have a practical explanation).

You cannot visualise something that you cannot give expression to.

It is like when Jesus said 'what do you want?'. He knew the power of humans being specific and being able to give voice to their preferred future.

I asked the girls 'what would be the first sign that this miracle had occurred?'. 'What would be different?'

It is not easy to get that specific or even real. The moments that they did I could feel the potential of change! I cannot wait to celebrate with them the small, consistent tweaks to their current reality that can entirely shape their future!

“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” Alexander Graham Bell

So even for you dear reader, what can you focus on as one small change in the more desired direction? What is just one thing that the ideal you would do differently tomorrow morning?

“Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.” Tony Robbins

I left the group with one action on my follow-up email...

Do the one small thing seven days in a row.

Focus has been defined as ..

(F) FOLLOW

(O) ONE

(C) COURSE

(U) UNTIL

(S) SUCCESSFUL

But I am defining it as..

(F) FIND

(O) ONE THING and do it

(C) CONSISTENTLY

(U) UNTIL (S) SUCCESSFULLY a habit

So personally, that means my alarm is set 6 times in my day as a reminder to pause

Because I have found myself so disjointed, this will remind me to focus. Until i just naturally and habitually pause a few times a day.

Be encouraged

One thing at a time gorgeous girl!

With so much love

Vanessa

PS I have re-opened the Online Global Group registration

The night was just too good, the women just too incredible and the content too helpful to keep to ourselves.
