Day Thirty Three - Time and Chance Do Happen To Us all

Updated: Dec 26, 2019

What significant days we are living in. We really do feel some this sense of something fresh over 2020. Do you? Even if there is also pure exhaustion towards the end of this decade, can I encourage you to pause and breathe in hope?

The daughters of Z came forward (broke rank) and then there would have been that terrifying moment, where possibly minutes felt like hours ,where they had to stand amongst people in a place they were not meant to be. They had picked their TIME and now it was the PRESENT DAY OPPORTUNITY.

I don't even know how long then it took Moses to get an answer from God, but all I know is that that understood the power of ‘their day’ in history. However I also believe each day can offer us similar, ‘game-changing’ moments that impact upon our inheritance.

I love the thought of what can happen in a moment or a day.

“Taking your children to school and kissing your wife goodbye

Eating lunch with a friend, trying to do a decent days work . Hearing the rain patter against the window. There is no event so commonplace but that God is present within it, always hiddenly, always leaving room for us to recognize Him or not to recognize Him, but all the more so fascinatingly because of all that, all the more compellingly and hauntingly. If I were called upon to state in a few words the essence of everything I believe – it would be listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and the pain of it, no less than in the excitement and the gladness of it : touch taste smell your way to the holy and the hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments and life itself grace”

Every day matters. Every moment matters. We all have the same hours in our day

I am challenging myself through these 40 days to live boldly in those things that seem, in the grand scheme of life, like it doesn't matter. But I so deeply believe that it does! I think living out our inheritance is as simple as living out our days.

John ODonohue says ‘all that is eternal in me welcomes the wonder of this day’ and asks some questions for the end of our day:

What dreams did i create last night?

Where did my eyes linger today

Where was i blind?

What did i learn today?

What new thoughts visited me?

What differences did i notice in those closest to me?

What did i begin today that might endure?

How were my conversations?

Where did i allow myself to receive love?

Where could i have risked doing something different?

With whom today did i feel most myself?

What reached me today? How deep did it imprint?

Who saw me today?

What did i avoid today?

From the evidence - WHY WAS I GIVEN TODAY?

John O'Donohue

Bless this space between us

It is my prayer that on in this adventure we are a little less focused, only, on what is coming ‘one day’ and more aware of what we already have ‘today’. That is the power of gratitude and reflection isn’t it?

Every day of this 40 day adventure feels so much richer than one day. I can sense the tension between the revelation of resting and receiving; and the boldness to break rank. The daughters of Z seemed to live in this same tension.

Ecclesiastes 9.10 I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

This scripture could feel so fatalistic, but I see it as so optimistic and full of possibility.

Time and chance happen to US ALL!

Time is like the PREPARATION and chance is like the OPPORTUNITY.

I honestly believe that we are living in days were there is such an open door of opportunity. Kingdom opportunity.. where heaven responds to our YES!

Yes is able to happen so much more effectively when you are prepared!

What does preparation look like for you?

How can you be preparing in advance for all that Jesus wants to give you in your inheritance?

Even your journey and your testimony is preparing you.

Gal 6.9 9And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.

Preparing in your thinking

Preparing in your expectations

Preparing in your words

Believing you DO DESERVE it!

Otherwise our belief about ourselves stop us from even seeing the opportunity as OURS TO TAKE..

This is what your breaking rank has been doing .. it is preparing you! It is also positioning you for when your inheritance and all that God has planned for you does come your way.

One thing I have observed is in all our believing, hoping and praying, when we receive what we are believing for, we can get overwhelmed (even with the inheritance that was promised now in our possession).

Women who desires physical children and then it all gets too hard and they begin to despise their blessing;

A business they were believing to start and then it prospers and they forgot the kingdom purpose had for it in the first place;

You ask God to use you – so He does – and then you feel used J (one of my favourite thoughts);

A husband or child gets saved now you complain about being too busy in the house of god

You get your financial breakthrough and now God asks you to steward it effectively

– not just what God wants to give us but what He wants to do in us through what He gives us!

I believe time and chance do happen to us all. I believe there is an open heaven to what we are believing for. My heart is with you
